En la entrada anterior hablaba de la visión de la Primera Guerra Mundia que nos aportaba una canción de Sting, hoy recupera el asunto del 1º conflicto mundial con otra canción, más o menos de la misma época, pero con un tratamiento diferente. Se trata de la canción All Together Now (nada que ver con la de The Beatles, de igual título). Esta es del grupo, también de Liverpool, The Farm de su album Spartacus, a diferencia del tema de Sting en esta canción se habla de varios de las preocupaciones principales de este grupo: socialismo, fraternidad y fútbol.
Su letra toma la inspiración de un acontecimiento muy particular: la Tregua de la Nochebuena de 1914; cuando se produjeron varios “alto el fuego” no oficiales entre las tropas aliadas y las tropas alemanas a lo largo del frente occidental. Algo que volvió a suceder en la Navidad de 1915 y en la Semana Santa de 1916; aunque en este último caso tuvo lugar en el frente oriental. Musicalmente este tema como melodía de fondo el Canon de Pachelbel.
La portada del single mostraba a una figurilla de subbuteo ataviada como un soldado inglés de la II Guerra Mundial empuñando una ametralladora Bren. All together now! (¡Ahora todos juntos!) Era el grito con el que los soldados se lanzaban al ataque desde las trincheras; con la particularidad de que en el estribillo de la canción también se dice In no man’s land (en la tierra de nadie), es decir, en el espacio que quedaba entre las propias posiciones y las del enemigo, el peor de los sitios si uno caía herido.
